Get your learners exposed to day-to-day hygiene items and common medications at a retail store such as Walgreens or CVS. Learners will complete a before activity to help them identify and define various medications and hygiene items. This activity for special education allows for learners to become aware of products that they can use to help take care of themselves. Ideally, they will begin or continue to make decisions for their personal health & hygiene! During the activity, learners will search for items and record the purpose/importance (V3 frequency or dosage). Learners will answer questions and participate in a discussion upon returning from the Community Based Instruction.

Learners will identify and match types of medication, define the purpose of over-the-counter medications, choose hygiene items that are right for them, describe the use of various hygiene items and determine the dosage of medications and frequency of hygiene items.
