Integrated Tools: Start this lesson off by reviewing the Nutrition, MyPlate & Food Groups Information Sheet as a whole class. Learners will then complete a whole vs. processed foods sorting activity. Included in this resources is a Ordering Healthy Tips Poster and Food Groups Checklist. These are intended to be brought with you to your CBI!

Before CBI: Prior to your CBI, learners will be identifying benefits of healthy eating. Additionally, they will identify various items for food groups included in MyPlate. Three versions are provided for this activity. Version #1 includes options for learners to answers questions in a cut/paste or circle format. Version #2 includes circle options and a word bank for food group activity. Version #3 requires learners to conduct research based on the benefits of healthy eating and complete a fill-in-the-blank food group activity.

After: After your CBI, learners will be participating in a reflection. Version #1 provides circle response options and prompts teachers to guide a class discussion. Version #2 and #3 require learners to fill in food items from their restaurant order to the food group chart. Learners will complete a mixture of circle and written responses. Questions are tailored for each version.
