Allow your learners to become familiarized with their local grocery store! Explore the various grocery store sections and aisles by completing a before, during and after activity. This resource for SPED instructors comes with three versions to support your learners needs.

Terms of Use
Version #1: In the BEFORE activity (prior to your CBI) learners will identify the various sections and aisles by completing a picture match. In the DURING activity, learners will explore the various grocery store sections and aisles, find an item (with a supported visual) and match the correct picture to the supported visual. For the AFTER activity, learners will identify items that they are familiar with and have either eaten or used. Learners can either circle items or use the visual stars provided as a cut/paste.
Version #2: In the BEFORE activity, learners will identify the grocery store sections and aisles by completing a visual/word bank activity. In the DURING activity, learners will explore the various sections and aisles and will write down two items found in each. For the AFTER activity, learners will participate in a group and class discussion where they will reflect on the items they have eaten or used.
Version #3: In the BEFORE activity, learners will predict what items are in the various grocery store sections and aisles. DURING the CBI, they will explore the sections and aisles, writing down two items and their cost for each. For the AFTER activity, students will calculate the total price and participate in group and class discussions.

a. Demonstrate knowledge of word meanings (EE.L.9-10.4). i. Use context to determine the meaning of unknown (EE.L.9-10.4a).
Resource most closely aligns with standard CCSS.SL. 9-10. lc.; however, fits in a range from middle school through adulthood. Content is created to fit a modified standard.
