Community Based Instruction (CBI) Resources Created for Neurodivergent Learners
Hi, I’m Olivia!
Welcome to Community Based Classroom! My background includes 8+ years experience as a High School & Transition Accessible (Special) Education Teacher, Career Advocate and Executive Director of a nonprofit organization. I have had the opportunity to directly impact neurodivergent learners ages 14-64 to support the growth of independence, employment skills and community access.
Now, as a professional working mom, it excites me to have the opportunity to develop Community Based Instruction for your learners!

Community Based Instruction (CBI)
The goal of CBI is to provide learners with hands-on experiences that support the development of skills and knowledge that cannot be learned in the classroom alone. For example, individuals may learn how to navigate public transportation, shop for groceries, or interact with customers in a retail setting.
CBI can also support the development of social skills, independence, and self-confidence. By interacting with people in the community, learners can practice communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. They can also learn about different cultures and perspectives, which can broaden their understanding of the world.
Community Based Classroom resources provide a structured (yet flexible) guide as you help your learners make the connection from classroom to community!
